The Team
You will join an experienced leadership team backed by top-tier investors, including Greylock, NEA, and GGV. Reporting to senior Finance leadership, you will own our entire accounting function and lead a small, high-performing team of two accountants. This team is the financial backbone of the organization, with a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and close collaboration with FP&A, Sales, and Legal.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Senior Manager of Accounting to own our entire accounting function. As the core financial leader for our high-growth AI+SaaS company, you'll scale our financial operations and ensure technical accounting compliance (ASC 606), while running the close and payroll yourself and building the controls that let us scale.
We're looking for someone with a passion for building efficient processes from the ground up, the curiosity to solve complex technical accounting issues, and the initiative to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is a critical role that requires both deep technical expertise and a true player-coach mindset: equally happy owning the strategy and doing the hands-on work. You'll serve as a trusted sounding board for Gladiators across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Financial Reporting & Close: Own the end-to-end month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring timely, accurate financial statements under US GAAP. Manage the chart of accounts, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- SaaS Revenue & Technical Accounting: Lead complex revenue recognition under ASC 606 for subscription and usage-based models, including deferred revenue, contract modifications, and commission capitalization. Serve as the internal expert for technical accounting research on new business models such as AI licensing and outcome-based pricing.
- Payroll & Operational Management: Personally run bi-weekly payroll in ADP, and oversee accounts payable, expense management, and AR/collections to optimize cash flow and meet burn targets. This is a hands-on role in the systems daily, not a review-only seat.
- Compliance, Audit & Systems: Coordinate annual audits and tax prep as the primary liaison with external auditors. Design and maintain internal controls (SOX-like readiness) and accounting policies. Serve as a NetSuite power user.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and mentor a team of two (a senior accountant and a revenue accountant). Partner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting, and with Sales and Legal on contract structure. Contribute to fundraising and M&A from an accounting perspective.
What We're Looking For
- Experience: 8+ years in accounting, with 3+ years managing or supervising. Given the technical breadth of this role, candidates at the higher end of this range fit best.
- Systems (must-have): Hands-on, daily NetSuite expertise AND hands-on payroll processing in ADP or a directly comparable platform. You have personally run payroll, not just reviewed entries.
- Technical: Deep US GAAP with verifiable ASC 606 experience for recurring/usage-based SaaS revenue, plus the ability to own technical accounting research, audit, and internal controls.
- Profile: A rare player-coach, equally comfortable owning technical and strategic accounting and personally running payroll and close. Scrappy, high EQ, thrives in ambiguity.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Active CPA strongly preferred; Big 4 background highly desirable given the technical scope.
- Location: US-based, remote
Why Join Gladly?
- Competitive salaries, stock options, and comprehensive benefits
- Generous paid time off, parental leave, and home office stipends
- A fully remote work environment with opportunities for in-person team gatherings
- A strong commitment to professional growth and an inclusive workplace where diverse perspectives thrive
If this role excites you but you don't meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply. Diverse perspectives and experiences are the cornerstone of our success.
Pay Transparency
Salary for this role: $156,000 - $184,000 (for Sr Manager title - open to Director level for the right fit!)
The cash compensation above includes base salary and is not reflective of potential commission for employees in eligible roles, or annual bonus targets under Gladly's bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all Gladly employees are eligible to participate in Gladly's equity incentive plan. Individual compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including career level, skills, experience, and location.
